Background of the Conference
Climate change has made tropical diseases become important infectious diseases in the world. Tropical health become an important topic of study due to the expected further spread of infectious diseases in the future. In Indonesia, the Ministry of PPN (2013) estimates that malaria, dengue fever and diarrhea will be a high to very high risk diseases to be faced on the island of Sumatra, Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua. This condition will be similar to the countries in the tropical and sub-tropical regions in the world. Actually, the outbreak of infectious diseases can be overcome by making efforts that had been made before when we’ve managed to eradicate the disease. This is the moment when the role of public health is very important and desirable. Prevention, control and management effort is needed, especially financing effort. This is because the rich countries in tropical regions with adequate health infrastructure, managed to overcome the spread of tropical diseases while poor countries did not. A poor country with an imbalance health infrastructure, poor sanitation, poor hygiene, poor nutrition and poor health behaviors tend to magnify the transmission of these diseases. This rich and poor condition has triggered the WHO to develop a health care system with universal coverage for every citizen in the world, because every people is entitled to have access to health promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative. Thus, this conference call on all parties, anyone who is concerned about this condition, to participate, share knowledge and experience about this topic, with the hope that can contribute in overcoming this problem that must be face
