Medan-USU: PT. Indonesia AsahanAlumunium (Inalum) again realizes its commitment to support education in Indonesia. Through PT Inalum (Persero) Community Development Program, 166 students from Bachelor’s Degree Program and Diploma Program have received scholarships from PT Inalum (Persero) as expressed by Mr. Oggy Ahmad Kosasih as Finance Director of PT. Inalum through his speech in the ceremony of scholarship award which took place at the IMT GT Room of the Main Administration Building on 23 January 2017.

“The education assistance in the form of scholarships that we give to USU students is a manifestation of PT. Inalum‘s concern toward education. A total of 166 USU students in 2016 received the grants. We hope this assistance can be a support for scholarship recipients in completing their education at USU,” said Oggy.

This event was also attended by the Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Ir. Rosmayati MS, the Head of the Student Affairs and Alumni Bureau Dra. Hindun Pasaribu, the Head of the Student Welfare Sub-division Drs Effendi Manurung, the Deputy General Manager of CSR PT. Inalum Nugraha M Toyib, the PKBL Manager of PT Inalum Susyam Widodo, the Manager of Community Empowerment Section of Paritohan Hydroelectric Plant Erwin M Setiadi and the Head of PT Inalum Office in Medan Julian Faisal.

In her welcome speech, the Vice Rector I Prof. Rosmayati expressed her gratitude to PT. Inalum for the scholarship assistance given to USU students. “Surely we thank PT Inalum, hopefully this good cooperation can continue. To the students who receive the scholarship, we hope they can make use of the scholarship funds as well as possible so that the funds can assist them in financing their tuition,” said Prof. Rosmayati.

 In the meantime, the Head of the Student Affairs and Alumni Bureau Dra. Hindun Pasaribu also explained that PT Inalum’s (Persero) scholarship program to USU students has been running since 2014. “PT. Inalum has been providing scholarships to USU students since 2014,” said Hindun Pasaribu. Furthermore, Dra. Hindun Pasaribu also explained about the number of scholarships received by USU students each year. “In 2014, a total of 139 USU students (131 students from Bachelor’s Program and Diploma Program and 8 students from Postgraduate Program) received a scholarship from PT. Inalum. Each of the Bachelor’s Program and Diploma Program students received IDR 5,000,000 per year and each of the Postgraduate Program students received IDR 10,000,000 per year. In 2015, a total of 115 USU students received a scholarship from PT. Inalum, 105 Bachelor’s Program and Diploma Program students received IDR 5,000,000 per year and 10 Graduate Program students received IDR 10,000,000 per year, continued Dra. Hindun Pasaribu. On the same occasion, the Head of the Student Welfare Sub-division Drs. Effendi Manurung also explained that the requirements for obtaining Inalum scholarship are outstanding students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and recorded as underprivileged students. Drs. Effendi Manurung also explained that the recipients of PT. Inalum scholarships in 2016 were the students who come from 10 districts in North Sumatra. (PR/Andi/rds).
